SPORT AND REMEDIAL MASSAGE

Sport and remedial massage is designed to assist in correcting imbalances in the body caused by repetitive strain injury and bad posture and help rehabilitation from major injuries.

As well as deep tissue massage, it is often recommended for those who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity, sustain repetitive postures or who have sustained physical injury.

In the event of an injury a postural assessment together with a range of techniques are used to help the patient back to a regular range of movement following a rehabilitation program.

For athletes, sports massage is essential to enhance performance, aid recovery and prevent injury.

It consist in slow and deep strokes using hands, fingers and forearm pressure on the contracted areas. Some techniques such as soft tissue release and muscle energy technique are performed without any oil or wax. There is constant feedback between the therapist and the client throughout the treatment as both work together to identify the issue.

There is usually some stiffness or pain after sport massage, but it subside within a day or two.
